Painting for me is a challenging and rewarding process.
In my paintings, I try to capture the essential shapes I see, whether it is a person, an object, a color, or tone. I try to see relationships between the elements in my paintings, and to reflect the presence of light, space and shadow.
I want my work to express how I perceive the character and spirit of each person I paint. I have always been engaged by still life because I see personality in those objects, too.
When I draw, I may grab a piece of scrap paper, do a quick sketch, or set up to try a more detailed study. It has always been a pleasure for me to draw, and a way to explore and study new subjects.
